Extend battery life - How to get the most out of your wireless audio device

A wireless speaker offers unlimited freedom when listening to music - whether in the garden, on the balcony or on the go. But nothing is more annoying than a Bluetooth speaker that gives up the ghost when there is no power socket nearby. Battery life therefore plays a crucial role in ensuring undisturbed music enjoyment.

The correct use and care of the battery not only has an effect on the playing time, but also significantly influences the longevity of your audio system. The following tips and tricks will help you get the most out of your wireless speaker and ensure that your sonoro audio device accompanies you for a long time.

Why is my speaker discharging so quickly?

If the battery life of your speaker is decreasing, various factors may be responsible. The most obvious cause is the volume: the higher you turn the volume control, the more energy is required. At maximum volume, the battery life can quickly halve.

Activated sound enhancements such as bass boost or surround effects draw additional power. Bluetooth connections over long distances also lead to increased power consumption, as the device has to use more energy to maintain a stable signal.

The ageing process of lithium-ion batteries should also not be underestimated. After around 500 charging cycles, the capacity often decreases noticeably - a natural process that can be slowed down by correct handling.

Which settings save battery power?

With the right settings, you can significantly extend the runtime of your audio device:

  • First select a moderate volume - the difference between 80% and 100% is often minimal in terms of sound, but the battery consumption increases exponentially.
  • Deactivate unused functions such as WiFi if you are streaming via Bluetooth anyway. At the same time, the distance to the connected device should be kept as short as possible - because the closer the devices are to each other, the less energy is required to maintain the connection.
  • With many sonoro models, you can also choose between different sound profiles - neutral settings without bass boost require less energy than elaborate sound optimizations.
  • Use existing power-saving modes that reduce power consumption during longer periods of inactivity. The display brightness of devices with a display also plays a role - the brighter the display, the higher the power consumption.

How do I charge my speaker correctly?

To protect the battery of your audio device in the best possible way, there are a few points that should be observed during the charging process:

  • With lithium-ion batteries, it is advisable to keep the charge level between 20% and 80%. Complete discharging and permanent charging to 100% should be avoided. Although modern devices have overcharge protection, it still puts a strain on the battery if it is constantly fully charged when connected to the mains.
  • If the battery is not used for a longer period of time, we recommend storing it in a cool, dry environment at around 50% charge. Extreme temperatures have a considerable impact on battery performance - therefore avoid direct sunlight or sub-zero temperatures. Even if the device is not used for a longer period of time, the battery should still be recharged once every few months. This will prevent deep discharging and extend its service life.

Longer music enjoyment through proper battery care

Conscious use of your wireless speaker pays off - not only through longer music sessions, but also through an overall longer battery life. Moderate volume, deactivated additional functions and optimum charging cycles are the most important factors for maximum battery life. Care should also be taken to ensure that the device is charged once every few months, even when not in use.

At sonoro, we attach particular importance to high-quality battery technology and sophisticated energy management. Our Bluetooth speakers are designed to provide reliable music enjoyment even during longer sessions without having to constantly connect to the charger.
